At Holy Cross Church we take Safeguarding seriously.  As part of our ongoing training, a number of our volunteers have undertaken bespoke Dementia Awareness Training.  This is so we can better support those who attend services or other outreach activities who are on a Dementia journey and those that care for them.

We want to ensure everyone feels welcome and supported when they visit Holy Cross or one of our other Churches in the Plurality.

The training was provided by DISC - Dementia Information & Support Courses who are a Community Interest Company who support unpaid carer's in East Sussex. DISC offer 4 different training courses for unpair carer's which cover all aspect's of what Dementia is, how it can affect all aspects of daily life. This includes: memory, communication, behaviour, mood, sight perception & many other elements.

In addition to training, they run various support groups across East Sussex, including several in Uckfield and other surrounding towns.
